Home Is No Longer Warm, 2017
Hand-cut paper, sun, shadows, time
80 × 124 cm
For the exhibition Tigers in Flip-Flops at Galleria Massimodeluca, in Mestre-Venice, a sheet of paper with letters cut out to spell the work’s title was affixed to a skylight. Daylight passing through the words projected them onto the gallery walls and floor, where they moved according to the light’s changing angle. At the end of the exhibition, the front side of the sheet, unseen by visitors, was framed and protected under anti-reflection, anti-UV glass to preserve the work’s temporality. In a world faced with multiple challenges, the work queries the evanescence of life and our relationship to home and the environment.
